CHAPTER 6 - GOALS

There are two ways to define goals: either as FG Goals, or as Global Goals. There are three categories of goals:

- Primary goals: you must achieve all of them to win the mission
- Prevent goals: if one of these goal is achieved, the mission is a failure
- Bonus goals: these are not critical goals, they only give you points upon completion

Secondary goals are technically global bonus goals, furthermore a radio message is displayed upon their completion

FG Goals

These goals are related to a single FG, for example "100% of Flight Group CRS Liberty must be destroyed" or "At least one of Flight Group ATR Escape must complete mission". You can define them for a FG on the "Datapad/Goals" screen. the conditions by default are "Never true", to set up a FG Goal choose any other condition. You can set up to 8 FG Goals per FG. Primary goals are defined by "must", prevent goals by "must not", bonus goals by "BONUS must" and "BONUS must not". Under "points" you can define the number of points the player will earn upon completion of the goal. There are three text strings available for the description of the goals when not complete/completed/failed. Bonus goals only need the completed text string, they do not appear in XWA until they are completed.

The box under the "must" selector is used for dynamic goals sequences; goals numerated 0 and 1 are always shown, goals numerated 2 only appear once goals numerated 1 are completed... etc. This is extremely useful, to avoid to have all goals displayed at the beginning of the mission. See the FAQs for more information.

In our example, we set the FG Goal "100% of FRT Target must be captured"

Global Goals

These goals are accessible by the "Datapad/GGoals". They are not limited to Flight groups, they can be related to Teams, GGs, GUs, IFF codes...etc. Furthermore, you can make some combinations there with AND and OR operators between 4 goal strings per type of goal. Like FG Goals, you have a set of text strings per goal string. The secondary goals available here are bonus goals; the radio message defined in the "Datapad/Team" as "Secondary success" is sent to the player when these secondary goals are achieved.

In our example, we set as secondary goal "100% of Global Group #5 must be destroyed"
