CHAPTER 1 - PLOTLINE/STORYBOARD

As previously stated, the first thing you need is a precise idea of what you want to do; a plotline, but furthermore some sort of storyboard of the action which will take place in your mission: write down on a paper exactly what you want to happen as precisely as possible; for each region, write down the several FGs you want to create, their names, number of crafts, what kind of action they will do, when they will appear. If you are not able to do this on a paper, don't even try to go to the next step.

To illustrate the several steps of the creation, we will take the example of a quite simple capture mission, which should cover all basic problems you may encounter. The player will be in a two B-wings flight group designated Shadow, with the IW Cruiser Warspite as mothership, stationed in Region 1. The target is in region 2, two freighters escorted by five Z-95s. One Assault Transport would arrive to capture the freighters once they are disabled, three IW X-Wings would assist to fight the Z-95s. The storyboard would look like:

Region 1
2 B/W Shadow (player FG) - orders: hyper to region#2, disable the freighters and destroy the escort, then come back to the cruiser.
CRS Warspite - mothership - order: nothing

Region 2
2 FRT Target - arrival: 30 sec after the arrival of the B/W in the region, from hyperspace - order: going to hyperspace (with enough time between the two jump points for the attack)
5 Z95 Escort - arrival: along with the FRTs - order: protect the FRTs, attack enemy crafts
3 X/W Ares - arrival: once the B/Ws arrive in the region - order: attack the Z95s
1 ATR Capture - arrival: once the two FRTs are disabled - order: capture the two FRTs
