The moment of creation

Now - let's go create a wiki article! I suggest you create an article about your character to play with while taking this course. If you create just a bogus page, it will eventually clutter the wiki with nonsense. As an added bonus: working on your own wiki page is part of the test for this course!

The things I will show you here are things done for a page for the VSD Sinister, the flagship of the Science Office and Tactical Office, which didn't have a page yet.

Unfortunately, when I want to create it, there's no such page yet. The simplest way to create a new page, is to type the name of your page in the search box on the left and hit Go. This will produce an error message that the page does not exist yet, and also give you a link to create it...

If you choose the create this page link, you will be taken to the creation page, and face a big empty white editbox.

Just for the fun of it, I'll enter a bit of text, and hit the Save page button. I have now created a wiki entry for the VSD Sinister at http://wiki.emperorshammer.org/index.php?title=VSD_Sinister! It looks like this:

The next stage: adding information

Boring, isn't it? We'll need a lot more text. So hit the edit tab, and type away :)

And now we have a problem:

This looks like total crap, so we need to actually add some formatting. The good part about wiki is, that you don't need to know fancy HTML to have a fancy layout. Wiki comes with it's own formatting. The next section of this course will list some of the possibilities.
