Welcome to the Wiki Editing for Dummies crash course at IWATS. I'm Admiral Dempsey and I'll be your guide on this tour into the magical world of the Encyclopedia Imperia, or the wiki for short.
 

What is the Encyclopedia Imperia?

Good question.

If you've never heard of it, you're missing out. The Encyclopedia Imperia (or wiki) is intended to be the biggest information center on the Emperor's Hammer. Soon, it will contain all the knowledge that we possess,and you will be able to find anything or anybody. Well, that's the plan anyway. And after you've taken this course, you can help us get there that much faster. This course will teach you what you need to know to add, edit and maintain articles on the wiki. If you have completed this course, you should be able to create your own wiki page about your character. You can put up your INPR there, but wiki has much more possibilities. But what is a wiki?

A wiki is a term for a website created using MediaWiki. MediaWiki is basically a content managament system that allows anyone to add, change and delete data. Of course the wiki's owner can limit access so you can't delete stuff, or so that you can only add to someone else's articles, but not delete from. In the Emperor's Hammer, everyone can edit every (well, almost every) wiki article as they see fit. And before you say "I've never seen this - what does it look like?": yes, you have seen wikis before. Unless you have never visited wikipedia.com, or even wookieepedia.com.

Important: this course is aimed specifically at the Encyclopedia Imperia. You learn what you need about editing a wiki. You can use this knowledge to start working on other wikis, such as wikipedia or wookieepedia, but you may not know all. Aside from that, each wiki has their own specific rules and guidelines. make sure you know them before you start messing around.
